Local gastronomy is inspired by Italian migrants who came to Sète in past centuries, and by local seafood products.
Sète's cooking is very tasty : monkfish speciality ("la bourride de baudroie), fish soup ("la bouillabaisse"), mussels and stuffed squids, pasta preparation ("la macaronade"), tomato and octopus pie ("la tielle"), tomato, garlic and sepia dish ("la rouille de seiche")... are just a few specialities you can taste in one of the 80 restaurants in Sète.

Restaurateur de France : Communicating our engagement
This quality label approach is approved by the Ministry for Tourism, and requires restaurant owners to promote local products : to offer local specialities, in menus or "à la carte", including local wines.

"Qualité Herault" is a brand used for identifying professionals who respect a specific quality chart, relating to the quality of the guests' reception and the promotion of the department's identity, through the diversity of local products and wines, its cooking, cultural heritage and landscapes, and also promoting local skills.
